HISTORY OF BRGY. CANG-ALLAS

             The name “Cang-allas” is derived from the Cebuano term “kang,” meaning “owned by” or “place of,” and “Allas,” which is likely a personal name. herefore, “Cang-allas” can be interpreted as “the place of Allas.”

            During World War II, following the Japanese landings on Siquijor Island, many residents of Larena fled their coastal homes to seek refuge in the hills. Specifically, numerous individuals sought shelter in Lumbia, a sitio of Cang-allas, to escape the advancing Japanese forces.

           Today, Cang-allas remain a part of Larena, contributing to the rich cultural tapestry of Siquijor. For more detailed historical information, local municipal records or oral histories from long-standing residents may provide additional insights.

           Cang-allas is generally concentrated and residential. Other economies are in the terms of goods and services. Barangay Cang-allas, has only one fiesta celebration, which fall on every 3rd day of May in Honor of Saint Vincent Ferrer.

           Distance to the Poblacion in terms of kilometres is more or less three kilometres. As a result of household census of projected population are only 369 with 105 households residing within the area. As certified in the Commission on election Barangay Cang-allas has  284 only registered voters but 214 only are voters who voted. On the other hand, the frequency of the Barangay Council’s meeting is twice a month which fall of every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month which will start at 6:30 in the evening.

          With regards to peace and order situation in the barangay is  orderly like a paradise to live-in, discipline, peaceful, loving. cooperated and God-fearing people.

CLIMATE

           There are only two pronounced seasons, the wet and dry season similar off that the whole province. The wet or rainy season occurs from May to December and the dry season falls from January to April.
